VUARNET:

The history of the company begins with the meeting of 2 opticians by the names of Roger  Pouilloux and Joseph Hatchiguan who were making driving glasses at the time. Jean Vuarnet (born January 18, 1933 in Le Bardo, Tunisia) is a French former Alpine skiier. The absolute highpoint of his career came in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, where he took Olympic gold in the Downhill.

Previously, he had won bronze in the same event in the    1958  Skiing World Championships in Bad Gastein. After his win at the olympic games at squaw he wore sunglasses which pouilloux provided free of charge to the french team. After this they got the idea to propose him to associate his name with their sunglasses.

Vuarnet Sunglasses have sold more then 20 million sunglasses around the world sine its creation almost
40 years ago.
